Hi Joan - We have arrived home safely - with just a little jet lag. Your guidance and expertise in planning this trip was invaluable. The trip exceeded all of my expectations!! I would not have changed anything. It would be difficult to pick out the best part of the trip - in that each day was so special. Rob and Heath were exceptional and a great part in making the trip so special. Londolozi was amazing. I'm not sure who we have to thank for our special Anniversary treat of lunch in the tree house; but thank you, thank you, thank you!! It still brings tears to my eyes thinking of the it!! We started the trip by saying "if" we go back to Africa only for it to be quickly changed to "when" we go back to Africa. So until next time, I thank you again for making this such a special experience!!
We were a group of three couples traveling to South Africa for the first time. We have traveled to Italy, Cuba, Mexico and other locations together and had arranged to stay in a house outside of Cape Town on our own. Redfoot Safaris was introduced to us by a friend in Phoenix that had a great experience in 2017. We communicated with Rex by email and phone and were impressed by his patience as none of us had ever been on a Safari and we had lots of questions. Rex arranged for us to have two full day tours of Cape Town and the surrounding area and we were so impressed with our guide that we engaged him for another full day. Upon arrival at Rattray on Mala Mala we could not believe how comfortable and luxurious the facilities were and the staff and their service was impeccable. Our guide, Garrett, was fantastic and a wealth of knowledge. We were exposed to a great number of animals and learned so much about their lives and their environment. It was both an educational and relaxing break and our photos and memories will be enjoyed for years to come. We highly recommend letting Redfoot make the arrangements so that the total experience can be enjoyed even though it is far from home. We would love to return and repeat the entire experience.
Our trip was just perfect - spent three days touring Cape Town and surroundings with our guide, George Meyer, who was fantastic. Other than our pick-up time, nothing was set in stone, and George allowed each day to unfold as it happened. We got to see everything on our list - and then some. From there we headed to MalaMala for a couple days safari, which were amazing - the accommodations at Rattray's were beautiful, and we saw more wildlife than we were expecting. Our safari guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and perfectly suited for our group. All details were taken care of by Redfoot/Rex, including being met at the Johannesburg airport, which was a huge help on our way home! Can't say enough about Rex, George, and MalaMala. Loved the trip!!
Just arrived back in Oz. We had an absolutely superb time with Alan- He and his team were great in every respect- the camp, catering, walks, drives, his knowledge of the bush and the game/birds etc was outstanding and a great guy to boot. We learnt so much and really enjoyed the whole experience.
Arathusa had a lot to live up to after that and did a pretty good job of it. – more commercial of course, but the lodge was well set up and the food excellent. We saw different game there – lion and leopard particularly and the guides/trackers also v. good.
All in all a great 5 days. Many thanks for organising it for us. I will pass on your details to any friends heading your way.
The trips was fantastic!! The Dhow trip was the highlight of the trip and we definitely will do it again and recommend it to others.
The snorkelling was the best we have ever seen (like diving). The local food they prepared was great (and we drank local brewed/infused medicine leaves with Honory and it helped to relieve my sore throat). We love nature and the rustic camps – we experienced the real way the people of Madagascar live and learned more about their culture.
It’s tough coming back from such a good trip, we thoroughly enjoyed our time in South Africa. I think forgetting our check-out date was a good indicator that we were enjoying ourselves!
A few highlights (its difficult to pick!):
– Spotting a leopard at night followed by being woken up by a hippo right outside our hut
– Spa and dinner at 12 Apostles (thanks for the tip!)
– Cape Town!
– Lunch at Babylonstoren
– The elephant park opposite Lairds Lodge, an unexpected highlight!
Overall it’s really hard to find lowlights from this trip! Not because we are too polite to tell you but because we had such a good time!
We will definitely spread the word, with the way we keep raving about South Africa I’m sure our friends will have to go there soon ????
Thanks for setting this up for us!
Zillions of elephants – one woke us up at Nxabega by de-barking the tree just outside our tent early one morning. We LOVED it!!! Thank you for arranging the most unforgettable honeymoon for us. Every bit of it was excellent, easy, fun, memorable… As soon as I figure out how to get my photos onto my laptop I’ll send you a video of a leopard attacking a one week old warthog, and the warthog’s courageous fight back— the warthog actually got away! We’ll definitely go back- you’re correct; we can’t get the dust off our shoes. All around a perfect trip from our perspective.
We’ve arrived in Mnemba. It’s been a terrific couple of weeks. Thanks so much for all of your arrangements. Cape Grace was lovely and we fell in love with Cape Town – wish we could’ve spent more time there. Thanks again for excellent selections and consistently going above and beyond with our requests/questions. We’re looking forward to our next Africa trip already.
Everything was wonderful and completely beyond anything we expected!! Cape Town was beautiful and the Cape Grace exceptional. Londolozi is an extremely special place. Thank you for all your help in putting this together for us.
Peter and I want to thank you both for planning the most amazing trip we have ever had. Everything was simply perfect. We meet some wonderful people along the way and the animal sightings are forever etched in our memories. While I knew we would see animals- nothing could have prepared me for the drama of those sightings. Tracking two lions who had been separated from their pride – watching them as they took down a bush back – and then seeing them reunited with their pride was nothing short of magical.
I remember when we were planning this vacation and I told you I really wanted to do this right since this would probably be our only trip to Africa. You laughed and told me that once we got that African dirt into our feet we would be back. Well – you were right. We are already thinking about where we will go in 2017.
Again – thank you for something very special!
I had an amazing time! My guides and I worked together, made magic happen… and yes, I agree, a bit of luck too ???? Uganda and Kenya were good to me. I fell in love with Africa on this trip, and want to see all of it now. ????
